I am the Costume and Hair and Makeup designer for my school's upcoming production of Les Miserables (Spring 2018) with 3 other co-designers. I haven't begun my actual design process yet, but above are my renderings for certain characters. The above photos are drawn completely by myself by hand using a printed costume template (the form which I drew the costumes on). The costume renderings are inspired from various photos I found of 1800s french wear. I want to be sure the costume are historically accurate. I plan to, of course, assign colors to the characters. For example, the character Eponine has a big transformation from when she was young. That being said, the character Young Eponine is wearing bright oranges, and rich browns and tans, then as she grows up and her family loses their wealth and she is struck with an identity crisis she wears faded oranges and rust colors, and dark browns. This is to show her deterioration as a person, and her "colors" dulling (literally and figuratively).
